Policy Guidelines and Restrictions
(as of 3/24/2023)
Lenses that contain digital goods must comply with the following policy guidelines and restrictions. Non-compliance will result in Lens rejection or removal of the Lens from Snapchat. Lenses and digital goods are reviewed for compliance during the submission process.
Guidelines
- Snapchatters must be able to experience part of your Lens before deciding to use Snap Tokens. See more under Designing Your Lens: Freemium Pricing Model.
- Digital goods titles and descriptions should be clear and simple, and correctly reflect the actual digital goods. E.g. Instead of “Extra Stickers,” the product name should indicate how many extra stickers the user will receive; “5 Extra Stickers”.
Restrictions
- Snap Tokens can only be purchased and used in accordance with the Snap Token Terms of Sale and Use.
- Snap Tokens cannot be redeemed for random rewards, also known as “loot boxes.” However, you are allowed to grant a random reward from gameplay, even if the gameplay was unlocked via Snap Token redemption.
- You are not permitted to make Snap Tokens redeemable for any digital goods called “Tokens” or “Crystals” (or anything similar, at Snap’s discretion) or use icons that look similar to Snap Tokens or Snap Crystals.
- Snap will reject any Snap Token powered experiences that do not have a thoughtful user experience, determined in Snap’s sole discretion. You cannot mislead users with your Snap Token integrations.
- Third-Party Rights: Your content must not infringe the intellectual property, privacy, publicity or other legal rights of any person or entity. You must have all necessary rights and permissions for all elements of your content. Don’t feature the name, likeness (including look-alikes), voice (including sound-alikes) or other identifying features of an individual or brand without their consent.
- All digital goods must comply with Snap’s Community Guidelines.
- Lenses, including ones with digital goods, are subject to Snap’s review process and Submission Guidelines and may be rejected by Snap, in Snap’s sole discretion.
- There is a maximum of 20 digital goods that can be added to a Lens.
- There is a submission limit of 10 unique Lenses with digital goods per week / 40 per month.
- You are not permitted to auto-trigger the purchase tray without an explicit unlock interaction by the user.
These Policy Guidelines and Restrictions may be updated at any time.
