Workspaces
Workspaces allow you to set up your Lens Studio window with a variety of Lens Studio panels configurations to speed up your Lens development workflow.
For example, if you’re working with GenAI, you might want to optimize your window to show the GenAI Suite
panel, as well as the Preview
panel which shows the results of your query. On the other hand, when you’re working with Spectacles and Typescript, you might want to see the TypeScript Status
panel to understand whether your Lens is ready.
Accessing Workspaces
At the top of the Lens Studio window, you can see one or more tabs that represent your various workspaces. Each workspace will show the same project that is currently opened, but each one can have different panels to optimize your Lens Studio window to the workflow you are currently doing.
Workspaces are saved to your project folder, allowing you to open your workspaces later, or even share your workspaces with your collaborators, and other devices!
Adding New Workspaces
You can press the +
button to the right of all your workspaces to add a new workspace. By default, you have several “workspace presets” you can choose from.
Once you’ve added a workspace from this preset list, you can modify them without affecting the original preset.
Custom Workspace Preset
You can create your own preset by right-clicking on a workspace and pressing Save as a Preset
.
You can then give the preset a name to find it later:
You can always add this workspace to any project by opening the +
button again, and selecting your preset.
My Workspace
The preset named “My Workspace” is a unique preset you can use instead of the “Default” workspace that comes with Lens Studio.
The first time you open a project which does not have a workspace within it, Lens Studio will automatically add My Workspace
. If it can not find a workspace with this name, then Lens Studio will fall back to the Default
workspace.
If you’re coming from an older Lens Studio without workspaces, Lens Studio will save your last opened window as My Workspace
for your convenience.
You can always rename a different workspace as My Workspace
if you want to change the default workspace that gets created in your Lens Studio.
