AI Prompting Guide

A prompt is the description you give Easy Lens. The clearer your prompt, the closer the result will be to what you imagined. This guide shows you how to write effective prompts, revise them, and improve your generated Lenses.

How prompting works​

Easy Lens is an AI-based system. It reads your description, asks clarifying questions when helpful, and assembles a Lens from AI-enabled building blocks such as backgrounds, 3D objects, face effects, stickers, text, and beautification. Because it is generative, the same prompt may produce slightly different results from one chat to the next.

Writing effective prompts​

Start simple, then stack​

Begin with one clear idea, preview it, then add details in follow-up messages. Stacking changes step by step builds your intuition for what each element does and usually produces better Lenses than a single, complex prompt.

1. "Make me a cowboy."
2. "Add a desert background."
3. "Add a cowboy hat."
4. "Add a bit of dust blowing across the screen."

Be specific about what matters​

If you know exactly what you want, say so. Mention the subject, style, colors, placement, and any text.

  • Vague: "Make a New Year Lens."
  • Specific: "Create a New Year's Lens with a gold, semi-large title 'Happy New Year, 2025!' at the bottom of the screen in an elegant font, purple snow, golden heart-shaped glasses, a golden party hat, and a bit of makeup."

Use clear, plain English​

Straightforward, concise wording works best, so avoid elaborate phrasing.

Easy Lens only responds in English. Prompts in other languages, or questions unrelated to Lens creation, will not be answered.

Use the suggested prompts and replies​

Easy Lens offers example prompts and recommended responses. Tapping them is a fast way to move forward and to learn the kinds of requests the system handles well.

Example prompts by Lens type​

Explore these categories for inspiration, or combine ideas from several categories in one Lens.

Face transformations and characters​

  • Turn my face into a cheeseburger floating on the screen on a background of a diner at night.
  • Make me look like a cat.
  • Create a witch look with a hat, tattoos, and piercings, plus a pet black kitten with wings.

Fashion, beauty, and accessories​

  • Create a pink cap with a logo of cute, adorable animal characters.
  • Create a Lens with beautiful blue diamond jewelry face art and subtle makeup to complement a beauty effect.

Worlds and backgrounds​

  • Dive into an underwater scene with fish and bubbles.
  • Add a space helmet and floating planets around me.

Games and personality quizzes​

  • Make a quiz Lens about interesting world records with 8 questions. Add a game show background.
  • Create a personality quiz Lens that reveals a funny fantasy character.

Text and utility​

  • Make a vintage-feeling Lens that shows the time.
  • Show the text "Happy days" on my head when I smile.

Revising a prompt​

You rarely get the perfect Lens on the first try. To revise:

  • Add something: "Add sunglasses."
  • Remove something: "Remove the hat." (Use the form "Remove [object or component].")
  • Adjust something: "Make the text larger," or "Use a warmer background."
  • Change the style: "Make it more realistic," or "Make it simple and bold."
  • Start over: If a conversation has drifted, start a new chat. The AI can lose focus in long conversations, and a fresh start often gives cleaner results.

"Just make a Lens!" is a useful way to end the back-and-forth and have Easy Lens generate the Lens from everything you have described so far.

Improving your results​

  • Experiment with the AI generators. Easy Lens connects to AR-optimized generators for things like 3D retexturing, stickers, and background generation. Try them separately and together.
  • Match style words to your goal. Words like realistic, vector art, cartoonish, vintage, bold, and subtle steer the look.
  • Be explicit about placement and timing. For example, "text at the bottom of the screen" or "trigger the effect when I open my mouth."
  • If a coding-based request does not work, try again, rephrase, or open the project in Lens Studio to inspect the generated LensController.js script.

Troubleshooting failed or unexpected generation​

If a Lens fails to generate, or the result isn't what you expected:

  • Check the basics. Make sure Easy Lens is updated and your internet connection is stable.
  • Rephrase your prompt. Make it clearer and more specific.
  • Simplify. Start with one idea and build up step by step rather than one complex request.
  • Use English. Easy Lens only responds to English prompts about Lens creation.
  • Start a new chat. Long conversations can lose focus; a fresh chat often helps.
  • Try again. Generation is AI-based and results vary—retrying can resolve a one-off failure.
  • Coding-based requests may not always work. Retry, rephrase, or open the project in Lens Studio to inspect the generated LensController.js.

  • Build your Lens up one component at a time.
  • Be specific when you have a clear vision.

Don't​

  • Don't ask questions unrelated to Lens creation.
  • Don't request back-facing (rear-camera) experiences—Easy Lens is not currently optimized for them.
