Monetization and Rewards FAQ

Lenses you build with Easy Lens can be eligible for Lens Creator Rewards, Snap's program for paying creators who build Lenses on Snapchat. Lens Creator Rewards covers two programs—Lens+ Payouts and Top Performer Payouts—and Lenses created through Easy Lens are eligible for both. This FAQ covers eligibility, payout basics, Lens+ participation, limitations, and where to get help.

Eligibility​

Q: Who can join Lens Creator Rewards? A: Creators who:

  • Are at least 18 years old, and
  • Are based in an eligible country: Algeria, Argentina, Australia, Austria, Bahrain, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Denmark, Egypt, Finland, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Jordan, Korea (the Republic of), Kuwait, Libya, Mexico, Morocco, Netherlands, New Zealand, Nigeria, Norway, Oman, Pakistan, Palestine, Philippines, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, United States.

Q: Does a Lens made with Easy Lens qualify? A: Yes. Lenses created with Easy Lens are eligible like any other Lens, as long as they meet the program rules and the Submission Guidelines.

Ways to earn​

You can monetize in two ways, but you can enroll a Lens in only one payout option at a time.

Q: What is Top Performer Payouts? A: It rewards Lenses that become high-performing within the first 90 days after submission, based on the number of unique users who post a Snap using your Lens in qualified regions. See Top Performer Payouts.

Q: What is Lens+ Payouts? A: Approved creators can mark select Lenses as Exclusive, making them available to Lens+ and Platinum subscribers, and earn a revenue share based on engagement. See Lens+ Payouts.

Q: How do I get access to Lens+ Payouts? A: Lens+ Payouts are currently available to approved creators only. You can apply for access through the application form.

Payout basics​

Q: How do I enroll a Lens? A: You opt in during submission in My Lenses after reviewing and accepting the program terms. For Lens+ Payouts, the Lens must be Public, include a valid video preview, and use only music/sounds you have rights to.

Q: How will I know if I received a payout? A: You'll get an email and a Snapchat push notification. Cash out through the Rewards Hub in Snapchat. First-time recipients set up payment via Set Up Cash Out in the Creator Rewards menu.

Q: When are payouts issued? A: Payout schedules vary by program:

  • Lens+ Payouts are issued monthly for the prior calendar month (for example, April payouts reflect March performance).
  • Top Performer Payouts are issued after a 90-day observation period from submission—in the calendar month following the month that period ends (for example, a Lens made in February is paid out around June).

Rewards typically take about 14 days to become available in your balance after being granted.

Q: Can a Lens receive multiple payouts? A: Only with Lens+ Payouts, where a Lens can continue to receive payouts across multiple months. Top Performer Payouts can pay out only once per Lens, for meeting the performance threshold within its 90-day eligibility period.

Limitations​

Once a Lens is enrolled in a payout program, you cannot un-enroll it, though you can still delete it from Snapchat. Enrollment does not guarantee a payout.

Q: Which Lenses don't qualify? A: Lenses that violate the moderation guidelines are not eligible for any payout. In addition, Top Performer Payouts (but not Lens+ Payouts) generally won't be issued to Lenses based primarily on:

  • Basic color filters or styles applied to the camera
  • Basic beautification, saturation, or sharpness modifiers
  • Static 2D images with limited interaction
  • Frames or collages that just add a 2D border or text
  • Copies or common repeats of other Lenses

Q: Can I make an older Lens Exclusive after being approved for Lens+? A: No. Only new Lenses are eligible, and they can only be enrolled at the time of submission.

Q: What happens if my Lens is removed or deactivated? A: A Lens that is removed from Snapchat or deactivated is not eligible for a payout.
