Texture Generator

The Texture Generator allows you to generate textures from a text prompt, helping you quickly create unique surface designs and materials. Whether you need fabric patterns, metal surfaces, wood textures, or abstract visuals, the plugin gives you creative flexibility to match any project style.

Getting Started

  1. Navigate to the Lens Studio AI option in the top right corner of the Lens Studio. Then, click on the GenAI Suite tab in the sidebar.

  2. On the GenAI Suite tab, you may need to scroll down to find Texture Generator.

Effect Creation flow

  1. Click the Surprise me button to try one of the default prompts and get familiar with the model.

  2. If you are ready to use your own prompt, enter a description of the texture you’d like to generate in the Prompt text field (up to 200 characters).

  3. The Negative Prompt field is optional and allows you to list elements you don’t want to appear on your texture. This can include both visual aspects (such as specific colors, shapes, or styles) and texture-quality issues you’d like to avoid.

  4. These settings help you fine-tune the results to best match your creative vision:

    • Gen Steps - Higher values produce finer details but take longer to generate. The default value of 50 offers the best balance between quality and speed.
    • Guidance Scale - Adjusts how closely the output follows your prompt. Lower values allow for more creative variation, while higher values make the result more literal and precise.
    • Seed - Control randomness. Use the same number to recreate the same look, or try different ones for new variations.
  5. When your prompt is ready, press the Generate texture button to generate the texture.

  6. If the preview doesn’t meet your expectations, adjust the prompts or settings to explore alternative visual outcomes. When you’re ready, click Regenerate to create a new preview.

  7. Happy with the result? Great! Click Import to project to continue building your Lens.

  8. The generated texture will appear in the Asset Browser under the name Texture Generation Result. Once you’ve finished building your Lens, save your project and push the Lens for testing on Snapchat. See the Pairing to Snapchat guide to test your Lens on a device, and the Publishing guide to learn more about sharing your creation.
