Music Lyrics & Beats

This sample project showcases how to create dynamic, music-driven effects using the Music Lyrics and Beat Sync custom components in Lens Studio.

It includes examples of syncing lyrics with a music track as well as beat-responsive visuals using beat data from the Sound Sync API.

Creators are encouraged to explore and customize these examples to build their own rhythm-based Lenses.

Using the Sample Project

This sample project provides four example scenes demonstrating different uses of the Music Lyrics component and two examples for Beat Sync usage.

Go to the Home page in Lens Studio and in section I Want To Build For select Snapchat.

Scroll down to the Learn With Sample Project section and find Music Lyrics & Beats in the Sample Project section. Select the project card to download the project.

To explore the examples, activate each example scene in the examples section of the Scene Hierarchy. Make sure to only enable one lyrics example and one beat sync example at a time.

Included Example Scenes

Music Lyrics Examples:

  1. Head Binding Lyrics – Displays lyrics bound to the head.
  2. Screen Lyrics – Shows animated 2D or 3D text on screen.
  3. Bitmoji Lyrics Example – Syncs lyrics to a Bitmoji character.
  4. Friends Component Example – Shares lyric interaction across friends.

Beat Sync Examples:

  1. Behavior Response – Uses Beat Sync and Behavior Components to activate different Color Correction VFX on the beats.
  2. Wired Parameters – Scales, rotates, and translates 3D meshes using beat data and the Wired Parameters Custom Component.

Swapping the Music Track

The sample project comes with a preconfigured music track that can be easily swapped with a music asset of choice. To customize the track and lyrics, download music assets from the music section in the Asset Library to use as input in both the Music Lyrics Component and the Beat Sync Component.

Make sure to uncheck the bundled option for the selected track — this allows the user to change the track in your Lens on their own. The components will not work if this option is enabled.

Managing Example Scenes

If you delete any of the example scenes:

  • Remove references from the Music Lyrics and Beat Sync components to avoid script errors.
  • Use the Inspector panel to clear any scene-specific inputs tied to deleted objects.
